How the West was fun ( based on every western movie ever made )
A full day consisting of one single game, a place where civilisation is trying to exert itself over a lawless frontier town.
This game is designed to evolve and develop as the various character inter-relate with their surroundings and the ambitions of other factions.
The basic game take place in North America somewhere on the edge of civilisation not far from the badlands, every genre of character from drawn from every western movie ever made might well be there.
Players can select a stereotype to join and then enter into character becoming an integral part of a new history of the old west.
Players should try to dress appropriately and should be armed with single shot weapons only ( which includes rifles, pistols, shotguns, knives ( rubber of course ) and tomahawks ( likewise ), grenade launchers can also \be used as ‘sawed-offs’.
Each character class will be given a secret objective, there will be gold, banks, outlaws, Indians and cavalry in one form or another, each player can select their character type and put it on the website, (i) for Indian, (c) for army/cavalry, ( c) for civilian. Using the website will enable players to see who’s going to be who and maybe start a few threads on the forum as well.
Character type :- Townsfolk—the goodish guys consisting of a banker, sheriff, deputy, saloon keeper, miner, shop keeper, doctor and so on. These guys represent civilisation as they go about their daily lives, sometimes being asked to support the law by joining a posse or being robbed at gun point by local desperados, all they want is a quiet life but sometimes they just have to take the law into their own hands.
Character type :- Cavalry—living in the local fort and drinking all their meagre wages these guys are expected to keep the civilian population safe from the local Indian tribe by controlling the reservation where unrest is currently residing in large measure, good at following orders but precious little else they’re also all there is betwixt marauding warriors bands on the war-path and the townsfolk.
Character type :- Outlaws—the ‘Hole in the Wall’ gang with an unknown hideout deep in the badlands, occasionally raiding the local bank or attacking miners returning to town with their hard earned nuggets of pure gold. Unrecognised when they go to town, ready to shoot first or outdraw anyone who is foolish enough to upset their equilibrium, such infamous names as’Butch Cassidy, The Sundance Kid, the James boys’, perhaps a Mexican or two or maybe a renegade Indian, what a bunch. The problem is they look just like any other
townsperson and might be open to a bribe or two.
Character type :- Indian—down at the local reservation but justifiably seething with anger against those who took their lands and broke every treaty, all they’re waiting for is the chance to put on the war-paint and attack, a renegade few might appear to be helping the Army by scouting but are they to be trusted, who is selling them whiskey and guns, when they leave the reservation to go to town for supplies ( whiskey ) is that all they’re up to, do the few soldiers guarding the reservation know of the danger they’re in.
In summary the game is designed to ‘play itself’, no automatic fire just interaction between players each of whom has an agenda, at the end of the game we’ll de-brief when players can reveal their objectives and see who’s ‘won the west’.
Hits :- any player who is shot or otherwise incapacitated must indicate that they’ve been hit by the accepted method of shouting ‘HIT’, a hit on an arm or leg ( that includes feet, fingers and hands ) is wounded and can no longer use that limb until he has either been taken to the doctor or had the doctor brought to him or dragged himself to the doctor. Any player hit in the body is deceased and must make their way back with their hand up to their start position and wait 10 minutes before returning to the fray.
Any Indian taking a limb hit can wait 5 minutes before being fully restored to health.
Hits can be received from firearms, knives and tomahawks.
All players are expected to play with good humour, responsibly and with much common sense, there are no prizes for scalp collections !.
Currency :- there are three sources of wealth, gold ( from the mine ), paper money ( in the bank and carried by players ) and whiskey of course ( sadly just pretend ).
If you would like to take on a specific role please check the updates page for the current positions. Please submit your request via email/contact page and the place will be reserved that’s available. Positions will be kept hidden for now until the game day begins.
