Non-Site Laws

As of the 1st October 2007, the Violent Crimes Reduction Act (VCRA) began, this has quite a serious effect on airsoft skirmishing, although it will benefit the genuine and responsible player. One element of the new setup is the need for every player to have a registration card from a valid registered game site. This will enable registered site confirm that the player is licensed and has the right to play, these records are available to various government agencied and the police. The license provides the holder to pruchase airsoft R.I.F's and is a huge step for those players/collectors as it will demonstrate how responsible R.I.F owners are while excluding those who wish to acquire R.I.F's for other purposes.

There has been much variation in muzzle velocity limits set by playing sites, the legal situation is that for a 0.20gm 6mm pellet fired from a R.I.F is set at the legal limit of 1.00 joule of energy, a maximum velocity of 328 feet per second, with a deviation of +/- 10%.
